Changes to Immunization Surveillance Program

As part of our commitment to enhance, promote and protect the health and wellness of the public, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is dedicated to maintaining and updating the immunization records of all pupils that attend school within our jurisdiction.  In order to accomplish this we have made changes to our immunization surveillance process. All CDSBEO schools within our health unit area will now have a single suspension date – Thursday May 7th, 2020.

In accordance with the Immunization of School Pupils Act and the Ontario Public Health Standards, the Health Unit is required to maintain an up-to-date database of immunization records for all students. On Monday January 20, 2020 First Notices were mailed to the parent/guardian of students in the following age groups which do not have up-to-date immunization information on file with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit:

  • JK (birth year 2015)
  • Grade 2 (birth year 2012)
  • Grade 11 (birth year 2003)

Parents have been asked to return immunization information directly to the Health Unit by:

Friday February 28, 2020.  If parents/guardians fail to respond to the first notice, Suspension Orders will be issued.

If parents have any questions or concerns regarding the notices,  please contact the Health Unit directly as outlined on your notice.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us achieve higher immunization coverage rates in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark.
