WORKING TOGETHER TO OUTRUN CANCER
Dear St. James the Greater Families,
Thirty-seven summers ago, a young man from British Columbia captivated Canadians with his determination, commitment, energy and passion to find a cure for cancer. His name was Terry Fox. Schools across Canada will participate in the Terry Fox National School Run/Walk Day to be held on Friday,September 29th at 1:00 p.m.
Children are asked to collect “Toonies for Terry” from only family members and close friends. We discourage children from going door-to-door to collect toonies. Once again this year, we will participate in “Tutus for Terry”. One member of the St. James staff will wear a “Tutu for the Day”. On the enclosed “ballot”, students will specify where their toonies will go to: Do they want Mr. Carroll our school Custodian to wear the tutu? What about one of our new staff members or perhaps Mr. Brus again?
Students are invited to start bringing their toonies to their classroom teacher beginning Tuesday, September 19th. Kindly place the toonies and the ballot in a Ziploc baggie. More ballots can be sent home at your request.
Your child is asked to wear a WHITE SHIRT/T-SHIRT as a symbol of HOPE on September 29. Also, we would ask that on your child’s ballot, you indicate who your child is running for. We will transfer the name (s) onto the bib that your child will wear during the run.
Thank you for supporting our Terry Fox Day and for bringing us one step closer to Terry’s dream of a world free of cancer!
The Terry Fox Committee,
St. James the Greater School
